Description:

Responsible for performing research on and preparation of returns for sales and use tax, lodging tax, rental tax, gross receipts tax, privilege tax, property tax, unclaimed property and miscellaneous occupational license taxes for various IAC and HSN entities..

Internal Contacts: Finance Group / Customer Service / Merchandising / IT

External Contacts: Customers / State and Federal Auditors / Vendors / State and Local Tax Personnel

Requirements:

Reconciliation of various tax accounts in the general ledger on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
Interface with state and local tax authorities to resolve tax issues with regard to monthly filings, inquiries and audits.
Stay abreast of tax law changes related to all taxes filed by the sales tax group.
Research and prepare autit defense documentation for various IAC and HSN intetities. Comunications with auditor regarding documentation.
Act as support to staff of IAC entities regarding tax questions, compliance issues and audit defense.
Coordinate efforts with Income Tax group to ensure consistency in records for audit purposes.
Assist on various tax projects as required by business objectives.
Proactively investigate tax opportunities in line with changes in the marketplace.
Research complex tax laws for responses to questions regarding customer sales, company purchases, and other transactions that impact the various taxes filed by the sales tax group.
Research and present tax planning ideas to reduce or eliminate tax exposure for all taxes filed by the sales tax group.

Bachelor Degree in Accounting or related field. or equivalent experience.

Minimum Requirements:

3-5 years of overall experience in a tax environment
Proficient in Excel

Preferred Requirements:

Knowledge using People Soft
Knowledge using Insoruce software
Knowledge using Taxware
