Key Accountabilities: INTERNAL CONSULTANTS TO ASSIGNED FUNCTIONAL BUSINESS UNITS --Understand the business plans for assigned business units. --Understand and where required help assigned business units define, document, or re-engineer business processes. --Consults with assigned functional business units regarding how information systems and management can help them perform their functions more effectively. --Works within the PMO process to ensure that recommended solutions are not sub-optimal, but fit within the overall information management structure of the enterprise. --Assists the business units with cost/benefit models to determine whether or not possible projects make sense from a business perspective. REQUIREMENTS MANAGEMENT --Develops detailed business requirements for approved information system projects. This could include: oUse Cases oBusiness Process Flows oMaster Data Worksheets. oReport Specifications and Mock-ups oUser Interface Mock-Up --Ensure that requirements are accurately reflected in project and testing plans so that product/project quality targets can be achieved. --Works closely with the technical IT teams to ensure that the requirements as documented are clearly understood and consults with the technical IT teams to validate design assumptions. --Resolves requirements and design issues as assigned. --Develop master data tables and configuration workbooks for PeopleSoft integration projects of assigned. PROJECT PLANNING --Provide analysis support to Shared Services IT, BU IT, and Business Entity leadership during the planning phase of the project so that project costs and ROI are clearly understood and that appropriate documentation for inclusion in the Project Portfolio Management process so that appropriate prioritization can be assigned. This includes support for the: oCreation of Project Budgets oWorking with the business to prepare benefit statements. --Assist Shared Services, BU IT, and Business Entity Leadership with preparation of project planning documents, schedules and plans, including as assigned procurement plans, project charters, and project scope statements. --Assist with the preparation of project initiation and kick-off materials so that project goals and objectives are clearly communicated. --Assist with the preparation of project controlling documents up to and including EVA specifications so that an effective framework is created for project control. --Ability to use standard systems to organize work. Demonstrate ability to proactively prioritize tasks. Demonstrate ability to accurately document and communicate process and procedures. TEST PHASE MANAGEMENT AND EXECUTION --Testing will be primarily focused on integration testing for COTS applications, not test case management for commercial software development. --Work with key business representatives to ensure that updated business processes are properly tested within test plans, including oIntegration Testing. oEnd to end business process testing --Test Case Development --Test Case Execution --May be asked to manage small, temporary test teams including business users, contractors, and other business analysts. PROJECT EXECUTION AND CONTROL --Maintain Project Plans. --Assist with coordination of project tasks and other project management responsibilities as planned. --Assists with issue resolution as required. --Completes project tasks as assigned. --Updates and maintains project control documentation. PARTICIPATE IN VIRTUAL TEAMS FOR SPECIFIC IMPLEMENTATION PROJECTS AS REQUIRED TO MEET OVERALL BUSINESS AND IT OBJECTIVES --Adheres to PMO Processes whenever assigned to program or project work. --May play technical contributor or leadership roles on virtual teams depending on the assigned projects, project objectives and requirements, and experience level. --Collaborates with Business Systems, PMO, BU IT, and operational entity resources to ensure the successful completion of Business and IT projects. Discover Applebee's: Business Analysts serve as an internal business consultant within the IT organization and is responsible for managing the relationship between IT and the functional business units. This associate plays the key role of verifying the business processes and requirements for the systems and information management processes supporting assigned functional business units; working with the technical IT teams to translate into workable system designs; and then verifying that the delivered products meet the needs of the business units as defined. Business Analysts will be part of the IT Program Management Office and will work with a team of internal consultants and business analysts. This position will assist with, and in some cases, drive the project management for projects associated with assigned business units. Business Analysts will be required to support work in both the Glendale and Lenexa RSCs. Approximately 20 to 25% travel between RSC locations will be expected over the course of each year. Ideal candidate will have: EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND CERTIFICATION Required: --BS --Must be highly proficient in the following tools: Microsoft Project or Project Workbench Microsoft Excel Microsoft Visio Microsoft Access --Rational Unified Process or other structure requirements management process. Desired: --Web Page Layout Training or Experience --Microsoft FrontPage --CAPM and/or PMP certification is a plus. --MBA a plus EXPERIENCE IN A SIMILAR ROLE OR FUNCTION Required: --4+ years Functional Experience as a business analyst supporting systems implementation. Desired: --Highly proficient in requirements management and use case development. --Experience with the Rational Unified Process or other structured requirements management methodology. --Senior Consultant level experience with a Big-5 or national management consulting firm is a strong plus. INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE Desired: --Experience in the Restaurant and Hospitality would be considered a plus.
